Research at the Chair of Human Geography is based on the constantly expanding field of research that is ‘Science for Sustainable Development’. Science is now expected to develop solutions to current challenges of society. Technical and social innovations are at the heart of our work and are seen as the motor for necessary processes of change. Our work is based on the theory that commercial activities are usually related to social processes. This is connected to the development of goals, strategies and measures for sustainable regional development.
The regions that we focus on are Germany, Europe and Australasia.
The chair is also responsible for Geography Teacher Training.
