Cody Watzig
Cody Watzig started his PhD in April 2025 as part of the “WETSCAPES2.0” project. The overall project goal is to better characterize rewetted peatlands in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Through advanced remote sensing methodologies, Cody will support the project with detailed thematic maps of the project areas and study the spatial and temporal dynamics of these novel ecosystems.
He completed his master’s degree in 2020 with a dual major in environmental management from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart and in ecosystems and biodiversity from the University of Natural Resources, Vienna. His master’s thesis focused on developing detailed land cover maps of wetland areas in the Sudd, South Sudan and Lake Victoria region.
