General Information

Lectures in Geophysics covers the entire range of geophysics. The toipcs of gravimetry, magnetics, geoelectrics, electromagnetics, seismology and seismics are studied. This gives students a solid basic knowledge of the individual procedures.

The focus of the research at this institute is in supervised qualification work in applied geophysics. This is also reflected in the apparatus. The focus is on topics such as:

  • Hydrogeology
  • Engineering geology
  • Quaternary Geology
  • Structural geology
  • Sedimentology

A further focus is on issues from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region, which are dealt with in close connection with the different working groups, such as:

  • Support for engineering geological questions
  • Determination of depth of foundations of buildings
  • Examination of the internal structuring of dunes or beach shafts
  • Illustration of the layer structure of an ice-time sequence
  • The subsoil structure in areas subject to slippage
  • Geothermal energy in NE Germany
