Mathematical Geology

General Information

Among mathematical Geology is the application of mathematical methods to geological problems. Statistical methods, numerical modeling, computer-aided simulations and GIS applications are part of the tools of this portion of the applied geology. In the course Quantitative Geoscience, students are introduced to the fundamentals of geostatistics, and in the application of relevant geoscience specialized software (Surfer, SGeMS). The Blockveranstaltung groundwater modeling to develop skills in numerical flow and transport modeling and gives an introduction to the use of programs like PMWIN and FEFLOW.
